This easy to make and wear shrug is knitted in one piece (plus cuffs if you choose the option where they  knitted separately).

It can be worn smart or casual and is easy to pack for travelling. It has a wide welt and collar, with cuffs to match which sit just below the elbow.

This is a one size fits all pattern. It sits just on the thigh line of someone 5’6’’.

  • E mail Question from customer
Please can you suggest other yarn as I am unable to buy Araucania 100% cotton yarn. What weight should it be?

  • It’s a shame Araucanian have stopped making their cotton yarn.

The gauge/tension your yarn need to achieve is

    14 stitches by 17 Rows is. 100mm x 100mm (4”X4”) Knitted on 6mm(US10) needles

I’ve had a quick look on line and these are few that would be suitable alternatives.

But any yarn that is of the same weight would be fine.

If you want to use cotton based yarn
    King Cole Opium
    King Cole Opium Palette
    Classic Elite Yarns – Sprout

King Cole Superfine Alpaca Chunky is a lovely alternative for natural colours
Lopi Alafloss would be a lovely alternative, but mostly hand wash only.
Wendy Noir Chunky lovely dark colours, you may have to tweak needle size a little.

  • Looks great and wide choice of colours , looks from the info like you may need to go up a needle side for the gauge. So long as the stitch gauge is there, don’t worry about the row element as it’s done by inches / cm not a set row count.
