Why Dizzy Tyke Designs?

Thank you for supporting my small creative business—welcome to Dizzy Tyke Designs.

I’m a Yorkshire lass, born and bred, which makes me a Tyke at heart. And as for the “Dizzy”? Well, everyone keeps telling me I’m a little bit dizzy for taking the leap into the commercial world of crafting!

I’m a lifelong crafter with a love for all things fabric and yarn. For many years, I talked about setting up a website and turning my passion into a craft business. Eventually, I decided it was time to follow my dreams and take that step.

My studio is based on the beautiful Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. Some folks said I was mad to follow my dream, but here I am—ten years later—still loving what I do and putting care, enjoyment, and creativity into everything I make.

Everything is produced in my studio—there’s no outsourcing to factories and no mass production. Sustainability is important to me, so to keep costs reasonable and stay true to my upcycling ethos, I source most of my fabrics from surplus commercial upholstery stock, including offcuts, roll ends, and excess materials. The only exception is cushion fillers, which are always bought in new—every cushion is supplied with a brand-new filler.

I previously sold stock cushions directly through this website; however, customers tend to prefer purchasing through larger platforms. For this reason, my products are currently available via my Etsy store, with plans to open a Folksy shoplater in the year.

If you’d like to follow along on my journey, why not join my mailing list? You’ll be among the first to hear about new patterns, newsletters, and blog updates as they’re released.
